When Women Go Silent

When women go silent,
it doesn’t always mean nothing is wrong.

Sometimes… it means we’ve checked out emotionally long before we physically leave.

The beginning of our exit strategy is often quiet.

We start removing pieces of ourselves silently.
Talking less.
Explaining less.
Expecting less.

Not because we don’t care—
but because we’ve already tried.

You see, I already said what the problem was.
I spoke up when it first started hurting me.
I explained myself in a hundred different ways hoping to be understood.

But somewhere along the line, my words became ignored.
My feelings became dismissed.
And eventually, exhaustion replaced effort.

Because there comes a point where repeating yourself feels like begging to be valued.

And most women don’t leave all at once.

First, we stop arguing.
Then we stop asking.
Then we stop reaching.

Not out of spite…
but out of disappointment.

The dangerous part isn’t always when a woman is yelling.

Sometimes the dangerous part is when she becomes quiet.

Because silence often means the hurt has settled in too deeply for words.

It means she’s learning how to live without expecting what she once hoped for.

And by the time some people finally notice the silence…
she’s already halfway gone emotionally.

That’s why communication matters.
That’s why listening matters.

Not just hearing someone speak—
but truly hearing their heart before it grows tired of trying to be understood.

Because love rarely dies overnight.

Most times, it fades slowly…
inside the silence.
