You Are Loved. You Are Not Forgotten.

If I could create one wish for the future,

it would be this—

That my mother could see you again.

Laila and Lia.

Because time…

has not always been kind.

And sometimes life,

and the emotions of others,

create distance where there should have been closeness.

But we don’t dwell there.

There have been so many moments

you were meant to be a part of…

Family gatherings.

Celebrations.

Our annual beach week.

Memories that should have included you.

And if I could gather them all—

every laugh, every story, every moment—

I would place them in a jar

and save them for the day

your paths meet again.

I want you to know something about your Gigi.

She is brave.

Stronger than most people will ever understand.

She fought cancer…

while caring for her own mother at the same time.

She gave everything.

And when your great-grandmother passed,

a part of her purpose shifted.

Not disappeared…

but changed.

She won one battle,

only to be faced with another.

And still—

she carries you in her heart.

She remembers your visits.

The time you spent together.

The love that was there.

She holds onto those memories

like something sacred.

There are stories you may not know.

About how people in her community

admire her.

How they speak of her compassion…

the way she cared for others as a nurse.

The lives she touched.

The love she gave.

Those are the things

I can only put into words for you now.

And as time continues to move—

faster than we would like—

I want you to hear this clearly:

You are loved.

You are not forgotten.

Not by her.

Not by us.

Not ever.
