How do you feel about cold weather?

The Comfort of Cold Weather

When I saw this prompt, I already knew my answer.

I absolutely love fall and winter.

There’s just something about colder weather that feels comforting to me. The warm clothes, oversized sweaters, soft blankets, and cuddling in front of a fire—it all feels slower, softer, and more intentional.

And honestly, my two favorite holidays fall right into those seasons.

I think I own more fall and winter clothes than I do spring and summer clothes. Give me boots, scarves, and cozy layers any day.

I love taking brisk walks when the air turns cool. Watching the leaves change colors feels like nature slowing down for a moment, reminding us that change can still be beautiful.

And don’t even get me started on the food.

Everything apple.
Everything pumpkin.
Big pots of soup simmering on the stove.

Since I barbecue year-round, colder weather actually makes it even better—because finally, there are fewer bugs to fight with.

But more than anything…
I love the feeling these seasons bring.

Life seems to slow down.

My family gathers more.
We celebrate more.
We spend more intentional time together.

Sometimes that looks like visiting my children, strolling through local markets, or making memories during holiday outings. I especially loved the holiday market in Roswell. There was something magical about the lights, the atmosphere, and the feeling of community.

Other times, it’s renting a home in Destin during the cooler months and exploring the local spots without all the rush of summer crowds.

It’s the calmness I love.

The slower pace.

And then there are the camellia trees.

Every year when they bloomed, my grandmother would decorate hers with cobalt blue Christmas lights. And to this day, when I think of cold weather, I think of those glowing lights against the blooms—simple, beautiful, unforgettable.

That’s what fall and winter feel like to me.

Warmth in the middle of the cold.
Family gathered close.
Memories being made slowly.

I love everything about it.
