You Can’t Keep Entertaining the Past

You can’t keep entertaining the past if you want what God has for your future.

The past has a way of knocking on our door.

Old relationships.

Old habits.

Old regrets.

Old conversations.

Old versions of ourselves.

The question isn’t whether the past will come calling.

The question is whether you’ll invite it back inside.

Sometimes we hold on because it’s familiar.

Even pain can become comfortable when we’ve lived with it long enough.

But God cannot lead you into a new season if you’re constantly looking over your shoulder at the old one.

There comes a time when you have to thank God for what was, learn from what happened, and release what no longer belongs in your life.

The future requires empty hands.

You can’t receive what God is placing before you while you’re still clinging to what He has already asked you to leave behind.

Lot’s wife wasn’t told to become salt because she walked away.

She looked back.

Sometimes one last glance can keep us from fully embracing what lies ahead.

Today, choose to stop entertaining what God has already delivered you from.

Your future deserves your attention more than your past deserves your affection.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” — Isaiah 43:18–19

The life God has prepared for you is always in front of you—not behind you.
