Have We Consulted God?

In a world consumed by politics, debates, and division, I often find myself asking one simple question:

Have we consulted God?

Before the speeches…
Before the policies…
Before the opinions…
Before we decided we knew what was best…

Did we seek the One who created us?

Today, so much of our conversation revolves around race, gender, ideology, and power. We spend countless hours debating one another, yet so little time seeking the wisdom of God.

Even within the Church, we debate who should lead, who should preach, and who belongs where.

But I wonder…

Have we stopped long enough to ask God what He desires?

As human beings, we have an amazing ability to believe we’re in control—that we’re the authors of history.

But we aren’t.

We’re participants in a story that God has been writing since the beginning of time.

His ways are higher than ours.

His wisdom is deeper than ours.

His perspective reaches beyond what we can see.

There is another verse that has encouraged me over the years:

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” — Isaiah 54:17

Notice what God didn’t say.

He never promised the weapons wouldn’t form.

He never promised there wouldn’t be opposition, disagreement, trials, or uncertainty.

He simply promised they would not prosper against His purpose.

That changes everything.

It reminds me that my confidence isn’t in governments, leaders, or human understanding.

My confidence is in a sovereign God who has never surrendered His throne.

Perhaps before we ask,

“What does everyone else think?”

we should first ask,

“Lord… what do You say?”

Because the future of our lives isn’t determined by who occupies earthly authority.

It’s held in the hands of the One who still reigns over Heaven and earth.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5–6

Sometimes the wisest voice in the room isn’t the loudest one…

It’s the One we’ve forgotten to ask.
