If You Could Send One Message to Your Past Self
I know the practical answer would be:
“Invest in Amazon and Apple.”
But if I could send only one message through time, it would simply be this:
“Trust God sooner than you trust your fears.”
Everything else would grow from that one sentence.
I’d tell my younger self to stop exhausting herself trying to earn a place in the lives of people who were never meant to stay.
The right people would never require her to become someone she wasn’t.
I’d tell her to stop measuring her worth by how much she could do for everyone else.
To stop apologizing for having boundaries.
To stop confusing being wanted with being valued.
I’d remind her that some endings aren’t failures.
They’re God’s protection.
That healing isn’t weakness.
That forgiveness doesn’t always require reconciliation.
And that waiting on God is never wasted time.
Then I’d whisper one more thing before the moment disappeared.
“Don’t rush becoming.”
Because the woman you’re praying to become isn’t built during the easy seasons.
She’s shaped in the waiting.
Refined in the disappointments.
Strengthened in the prayers that seem unanswered.
And loved by God through every one of them.
Looking back now, I realize something I never understood then.
The life I was so afraid of losing…
became the very life that taught me who I really am.
