The Lord Will Meet You Where You Are

Sometimes we convince ourselves that we have to get our lives together before we can come to God.

We tell ourselves we’ll pray when things settle down.

We’ll return to church when we’re doing better.

We’ll rebuild our relationship with Him when we’ve stopped making the same mistakes.

We keep waiting for a better version of ourselves to show up before we believe we’re worthy of being in His presence.

But here’s something I hope you’ll remember today.

The Lord will meet you right where you are.

Not where you pretend to be.

Not where other people think you should be.

Not where you promised yourself you’d be by now.

Right where you are.

He met the woman at the well in the middle of an ordinary day, carrying a history that others might have used to define her.

He met Peter in the aftermath of his denial.

He met Thomas in the middle of his doubt.

And He welcomed a prodigal son who had rehearsed an apology but hadn’t yet finished saying it.

Different people. Different circumstances. Different struggles.

The same loving God.

And isn’t that comforting?

Because some of us are walking through seasons we never imagined we’d face.

Some of us are tired.

Some are grieving.

Some are questioning everything they once believed.

Some are carrying guilt over decisions they cannot undo.

And some are simply trying to make it through another day without falling apart.

But nowhere in Scripture do we find a Savior who requires people to become perfect before He extends His hand.

Grace meets us where we are, but love invites us to keep growing.

That doesn’t mean our choices don’t matter. It doesn’t mean transformation isn’t necessary.

It means we don’t have to accomplish the transformation before we’re allowed to receive His love.

Perhaps that’s what someone needs to hear this Sunday.

You don’t have to find all the answers before you pray.

You don’t have to hide your disappointment.

You don’t have to pretend your faith is stronger than it is.

You can come confused.

You can come wounded.

You can come with questions.

You can even come with nothing more than the words, “Lord, I need You.”

And that is enough to begin the conversation.

Because sometimes the greatest act of faith isn’t taking another step forward.

Sometimes it’s simply allowing God to meet you in the place you’ve been ashamed to admit you’re standing.

So wherever life finds you today, remember this:

You are not too far away.

You are not too broken.

You are not too late.

And you are not forgotten.

The Lord will meet you where you are.

And from there, the two of you can begin again.

Soulful Sunday Reflection:

What part of your life have you been trying to fix before allowing God into it?

Maybe today is the day you invite Him in.
