The Moment I Realized I Was Really Living

There have been big moments in my life.

Becoming a mother.

Watching my children grow.

Traveling.

Buying things I once only dreamed about.

Writing books I had carried quietly for years.

But if I’m honest, the moments that make me feel most alive are usually the ones where I suddenly stop and realize:

I’m here.

Not rushing.

Not surviving.

Not worrying about what comes next.

Just present.

Maybe I’m standing near the water.

Maybe I’m laughing with my family.

Maybe I’m writing something that came straight from my heart.

Maybe I’m watching the sunset and realizing I made it through things I once thought would break me.

Those are the moments when life feels fullest.

Not because everything is perfect.

But because I’m finally present enough to feel it.

For a long time, so much of life was about getting through the next thing.

Taking care of everyone.

Handling responsibilities.

Being strong.

Making sure everything kept moving.

But somewhere along the way, I learned that being alive and feeling alive are not always the same thing.

Feeling alive is when you stop long enough to notice your own life.

To breathe it in.

To say:

This moment matters.

And maybe that’s what I treasure most now.

Not chasing the next big thing.

Just recognizing the beautiful moments while I’m still inside them.

Thinking out loud…

Maybe feeling truly alive isn’t about doing something extraordinary.

Maybe it’s realizing the ordinary moment you’re standing in is one you once prayed to live long enough to see.
