Sometimes You Have to Release Something to Go Where God Is Sending You
One of the hardest things God asks us to do isn’t to hold on.
It’s to let go.
We pray for new beginnings while clinging to old chapters.
We ask God to open new doors while refusing to leave the room we’re already standing in.
But every season has a purpose.
And every season has an ending.
Sometimes you have to release the relationship.
Sometimes the disappointment.
Sometimes the offense.
Sometimes even the dream of how you thought your life was supposed to look.
Not because those things didn’t matter.
But because God may be preparing your hands to receive something you cannot hold while they’re still full of yesterday.
Faith often looks like letting go before you understand why.
It looks like trusting God enough to release what is familiar so you can walk toward what He is preparing.
A seed must first be released into the ground before it can become a harvest.
The disciples had to leave their nets before they could become fishers of men.
Abraham had to leave what was familiar before he could walk into God’s promise.
Again and again, Scripture shows us something:
The release often comes before the revelation.
So if God is asking you to let go of something today, don’t automatically interpret it as punishment.
It may be preparation.
Release the fear.
Release the bitterness.
Release the need to control every outcome.
Release the version of yourself that no longer fits where God is leading you.
Because sometimes the greatest act of faith isn’t taking another step forward.
Sometimes it is simply opening your hands.
Trusting God with what you are leaving behind.
And believing that empty hands are not always evidence of loss.
Sometimes empty hands are simply ready hands.
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing!” — Isaiah 43:18–19
Sometimes you have to release what was so you can receive what God has already set in motion.
