Standby
Some people want to keep others on standby.
Close enough not to lose.
Far enough to avoid commitment.
Present when convenient.
Absent when it isn’t.
Standby is where potential is paused while someone decides whether to choose it.
It’s the place where mixed signals become normal, where hope is stretched thin, and where “maybe someday” quietly replaces “right now.”
But life was never meant to be lived in a waiting room.
No one should have to wonder where they stand.
No one should have to earn what is freely given to someone who is truly chosen.
The right relationships don’t require living on standby.
They make room.
They make time.
They make intentions clear.
Sometimes the most loving thing that can be done is to step out of the waiting room and continue living.
Because staying on standby for someone else’s uncertainty can cause missed opportunities, delayed healing, and postponed dreams.
There is a difference between patience and being put on hold.
Patience waits for what has been promised.
Standby waits for someone to make up their mind.
Know the difference.
Protect your peace.
And never allow your life to be placed on pause while someone else decides your value.
