Which is the Best Restaurant in Your City?

Living in a small South Georgia town, we don’t have many fine dining options. We’ve got plenty of chicken joints, but sometimes the best meals are worth a short drive.

If I head to Thomasville, one of the local favorites is Jonah’s Fish & Grits. Their shrimp and grits are legendary and definitely worth trying if you’re in town.

Another favorite is SASS! The Sweet and Savory Sisters. They’re known for their incredible tea-brined fried chicken. Fun fact—Paula Deen is their godmother, and you can taste the Southern influence in every bite.

If I’m in Tallahassee, I enjoy Table 23. The food is always good, but if I’m being honest, my favorite thing on the menu is their house white wine. Sometimes it’s the little things that make a meal memorable.

But when I’m craving something fried and don’t plan on counting calories, I make the drive to Bainbridge.

There’s a little place called Port City Seafood. Some people might call it a hole in the wall, but I’ve learned those are often the places with the best food. The seafood is fresh, the portions are generous, and the staff makes you feel like family.

While you’re there, take time to stroll through downtown Bainbridge. The city has so much Southern charm, with beautiful historic buildings and grand old homes that tell stories of another era. Every time I visit, I find myself imagining the families who once gathered on those wide front porches.

For me, the best restaurant isn’t always the fanciest.

It’s the one where the waitress remembers your name.

Where the tea never seems to run dry.

Where laughter is louder than the music.

Where the food tastes like someone made it with care instead of convenience.

Because I’ve learned that hospitality is an ingredient too.

Sometimes the places with paper napkins, worn booths, and handwritten specials create memories that no white tablecloth ever could.

The best restaurant isn’t always the one with the most stars.

It’s the one that reminds you why people gather around tables in the first place.

Good food fills your stomach.

Good people fill your heart.
