The Evidence of Things Not Yet Seen

One of my favorite scriptures says:

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen.”
— Hebrews 11:1

I’ve read this verse many times, but lately it’s the last few words that have settled deep in my spirit…

”…the evidence of things not yet seen.”

How can something be evidence if you can’t see it?

That’s the mystery of faith.

Faith isn’t pretending everything is okay.

Faith is trusting that God is working even when nothing around you suggests He is.

Sometimes the evidence isn’t found in your circumstances.

The evidence is that you keep praying when there’s no answer.

You keep believing when there’s no sign.

You keep planting seeds when the ground looks barren.

You keep showing up when every door seems closed.

The world says,

“I’ll believe it when I see it.”

Faith quietly replies,

“I believe it because God said it.”

There are prayers you’ve prayed that haven’t been answered yet.

Promises you haven’t touched yet.

Healing you haven’t experienced yet.

People you’ve been praying for who haven’t found their way home yet.

Dreams that have not yet taken shape.

But “not yet seen” does not mean “not happening.”

It simply means God is still writing the story.

The evidence isn’t what your eyes can measure.

The evidence is that your spirit refuses to let go of what God has already spoken.

Maybe today your faith feels small.

That’s okay.

A seed doesn’t look like a forest.

A promise doesn’t always resemble its fulfillment.

And the beginning rarely reveals the beauty of the ending.

So keep believing.

Keep praying.

Keep trusting.

Because sometimes the greatest evidence isn’t what you can see…

It’s the peace that settles over your heart before the miracle ever reaches your hands.

Faith sees tomorrow through the promises of God long before the eyes ever can.
