Love Across the Aisles

In a world where race is so often front and center, perhaps we need to remember something…

Sometimes love is simply found across the aisles.

Every community has its opinions. Every group has its expectations. People ask, “Why did he choose her?” or “Why did she choose him?”

But maybe we’ve been asking the wrong question.

Perhaps it isn’t about choosing a race.

Perhaps it’s about a heart finding a place where it feels seen, valued, respected, and safe.

I came across a conversation today questioning why a well-known actress married the person she did. It reminded me of something we often forget:

At the end of the day, another person’s marriage is rarely ours to explain.

Love has never been something we can fully reduce to a checklist. It doesn’t ask permission from culture, politics, or public opinion before it enters our lives.

What I’ve learned about love is this:

Character matters.

Kindness matters.

Respect matters.

Shared values matter.

Faith matters.

Integrity matters.

Those are the things that sustain a relationship long after the excitement of falling in love has faded.

Love should never be measured by the color of someone’s skin, but by the content of their heart and the way they love you when no one else is watching.

At the end of the day, every one of us is hoping to find a place where we are fully known, fully accepted, and fully loved.

Maybe that’s the language every heart understands.

Love doesn’t ask what color your skin is.It asks whether your heart is safe enough to call home.

“ Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.”1 Peter 4:8
