Prompt: Do you think everything happens for a reason?
Yes, I do—but perhaps not for the reason people often think.
Scripture tells us that God knew us before we were born. If He knew us then, He already knew every joy, every heartbreak, every failure, every victory, and every crossroad we would face.
He also gave us free will.
That means many of the things we experience are the result of human choices—our own and those of others.
I don’t believe God orchestrates every painful event.
But I do believe He wastes nothing.
He has a remarkable way of redeeming what was meant for harm.
He can take what was meant to break us and use it to strengthen us.
He can turn wounds into wisdom, grief into compassion, failures into growth, and setbacks into testimonies.
So yes, I believe there is purpose.
Not because every event was God’s desire, but because nothing catches Him by surprise.
He already knew the path before we walked it.
And through every season, He promises not to abandon us, but to walk beside us.
That doesn’t always mean we understand the reason.
Sometimes we never will.
But faith reminds us that even when we cannot see the purpose, we can trust the One who does.
