What’s a piece of media (book, movie, song) that changed how you see the world?

Prompt: What piece of media (book, movie, or song) changed how you see the world?

For me, it’s The Notebook.

Most people see it as a love story, but I see it as a lesson in covenant.

It taught me that love isn’t measured by grand gestures or fleeting emotions. It’s measured by commitment—the kind that remains when everything else begins to fade.

The part that has always stayed with me is Noah moving into the nursing home so he could be with Allie. Every day he read them their story, hoping that, even if only for a few moments, she would remember the life they built together.

To me, that’s the ultimate picture of “for better or for worse.”

The idea that someone could love me even when I couldn’t remember them… or perhaps couldn’t even remember myself… is one of the most beautiful expressions of love I can imagine.

Maybe one day I’ll need someone to feed me oatmeal, straighten my wig before visitors arrive, remind me where I am, or simply hold my hand in the silence.

I hope for the kind of husband who understands that marriage vows are more than beautiful words spoken on a wedding day. They’re a promise lived out over a lifetime.

Because sometimes love looks like romance.

Sometimes love looks like sacrifice.

And sometimes, love looks like choosing the same person every single day—even on the days they no longer remember choosing you.

I think every girl hopes for a love like Noah’s. Not because it’s perfect, but because it’s faithful.

After all, the deepest love isn’t just about living for someone.

Sometimes love is dying to yourself, every single day, so the other person never has to wonder if they’re still loved.
