What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

A Legacy Built on Love

When I think about the legacy I want to leave behind,
I don’t think about money, titles, or possessions.

I hope and pray my legacy is built on love and family.

Because the truth is—you can buy a lot of things in this world,
but you cannot buy real love.

Not the kind of love that sits beside your bedside when life is ending.
Not the kind of love that holds your hand through hard seasons.
Not the kind that shows up over and over again simply because you belong to each other.

That kind of love is built.

Slowly.
Daily.
Through moments that may seem small at the time.

It’s taking vacations with my children even when life was busy.
Making each of their favorite meals because I knew what comfort tasted like to them. Listening to their joys and heartbreaks as they slowly grew into adulthood.

It’s the memories that probably looked ordinary to everyone else…

Dancing barefoot in the rain with my daughter.
Drawing on the driveway with sidewalk chalk.
Teaching them how to drive a stick shift.

It’s standing there on the first day of school trying not to cry, putting on my “big girl pants” so they wouldn’t see my heart breaking a little as they walked away growing up.

And sometimes, legacy looks like sacrifice no one else sees.

The quiet struggles of being a single mother.
Wondering how you were going to make things work while making sure your children never carried the weight of those worries.

Smiling when something wasn’t in the budget.
Stretching what you had.
Making a way anyway.

It’s the family dinners.
The backyard barbecues.
The friends and family gathered together laughing louder than the music playing.

It’s listening when your children’s hearts are broken and reminding them that it’s okay to hurt sometimes.

More than anything, I pray I pass down the lessons my mother passed to me… and the lessons her mother passed down to her.

The kind of wisdom rooted in faith, resilience, kindness, and love.

I want my children and grandchildren to slow down and truly enjoy life.

To treat people with kindness.

Because the truth is, you know where you are today…
but none of us know what tomorrow may bring.

And at the end of it all, I believe love is what remains.

Not the money.
Not the accomplishments.
Not the things we collected along the way.

Just love.

Love and family.

And I pray that’s what people remember when they remember me.

Authors note;

You know… looking back over my life, I realize how blessed I truly am.

Not because everything was easy.
Not because life was perfect.

But because God placed incredible people along this journey with me.

The older I get, the more I understand that real wealth isn’t found in things—it’s found in people.
The ones who stayed.
The ones who loved you through different seasons.
The ones who laughed with you, cried with you, prayed for you, and kept showing up.

And honestly…
I couldn’t ask for better people to walk through this journey called life wit
