I Already Won

For years, people have prophesied that I would win the lottery.

At first, I got excited.

So naturally, I played.
Thinking maybe if I kept trying,
I could somehow help make the prophecy come true.

But here we are—ten years later.

And honestly?

When I really sit and think about it…
I’ve already won.

Because the older I get,
the more I realize
that everything I truly need
already exists within me.

The tools.
The ideas.
The gifts.
The ability to create a meaningful life.

It’s already there.

My idea of “winning”
was never really about fancy things.

It wasn’t luxury cars or designer labels.

I dreamed about creating generational wealth.
Something that would help my children—
and maybe one day their children too.

I wanted a home large enough
to care for my aging parents
so they could live without worry.

A place where they could enjoy life—
go fishing, travel, rest, laugh, and simply be cared for.

I dreamed about creating scholarships
for the children of migrant workers
and for families who couldn’t afford college.

Because sometimes all a child needs
is one opportunity.

One person willing to believe in them.

And no,
I may not have the finances to do all of that right now.

But somehow…
I still feel rich.

Because I’m investing in myself.

In my time.
In my growth.
In my craft.

I’m learning that words matter.

Words can heal the soul.
Calm storms.
Encourage someone to keep going
when life has nearly convinced them to quit.

And if used correctly,
words can change lives.

That’s why I no longer measure winning
by what’s in a bank account alone.

Real wealth also looks like:

Peace.
Purpose.
Growth.
Faith.
Time.
The ability to pour something meaningful into the world.

Truthfully,
we are all lottery winners in some way.

Because each of us already carries something valuable inside.

The question is whether we choose to use it.

So I’m learning to enjoy where I am.

To bloom here.

Because some flowers
don’t do well when they’re constantly transplanted.

Some are meant to grow exactly where they were planted.

Closing Line

Sometimes winning isn’t about gaining more—
it’s realizing how much you already carry within you.
