The Beginning That Looks Like an Ending
There are moments in life when we question God.
Moments when the heart quietly asks,
Why?
Why this diagnosis?
Why this season?
Why my loved one?
And if we are honest, another question sometimes follows.
Out of all the people in the world…
why them?
Especially when we look around and see people who have spent their lives hurting others and leaving broken pieces behind them.
And yet the burden falls on someone we love.
Someone good.
Someone gentle.
Someone who has spent their life caring for others.
But when we bring those questions to God, His answer is often unexpected.
Sometimes He simply asks us:
Why not you?
Not as punishment.
Not as cruelty.
But as a reminder that life does not move according to the fairness we imagine it should.
Life moves according to purpose.
And sometimes purpose asks us to walk through things we never imagined we could carry.
The truth is, God never promised the journey would be easy.
But He did promise that He would never give us more than we can handle.
Even though, in the middle of it all, it may feel like more than we can bear.
But here is something I am learning.
God’s new beginnings often look like endings.
The darker the night,
the closer the morning is to breaking.
When God gives victory,
He also gives a peace
that no enemy can disturb.
The heavier the burden feels,
the nearer the release may be.
Circumstances may try to shake you,
but they will not stand forever.
In time, they will crumble.
What feels like a test today
will become a testimony tomorrow.
And somewhere, someone is watching,
trying to understand their own storm.
Perhaps my story
will help them see their future more clearly.
Perhaps my journey
will give them the strength to survive their own.
Because a diagnosis
is not the final chapter of a life.
It is only a page in the story
still being written.
And even now, in the middle of uncertainty,
I still have my best girl.
And she still has me.
So together, we will make new memories.
Different ones.
But beautiful ones.
Because this chapter is not the ending.
It is simply the beginning of a story
called life.
