When Memories Fade
by Valrelyn
When memories fade, love is asked to remember.
There are moments now when the past slips quietly through her fingers.
Names that once came easily hesitate on her lips.
Stories that filled our home sometimes drift beyond reach.
But love was never built on memory alone.
Love was built on promises.
On years shared.
On laughter, sacrifice, and faith that grew stronger with time.
And when I look at her now, I do not measure our life together by the memories she may forget.
I measure it by the love we lived.
Because while some memories may fade, mine remain strong enough to carry us both.
I remember the way our story began.
The vows we spoke with hopeful hearts.
The life we built through seasons of joy and seasons of testing.
So when the road becomes uncertain, I simply hold on to what I know is true.
Love does not disappear when memory falters.
It becomes stronger.
Steadier.
More patient.
And if the day comes when she cannot remember the path that brought us here, I will remember it for us both.
Because love is not only about the memories we keep.
Sometimes love is about becoming the memory for the one you promised to walk beside.
And even when memories fade, our story remains.
Held together by the vows we lived —
and the love that never forgot.

And then a quiet voice speaks:
Why do you fear what fades?
Did you believe love was written only in the mind?
The memories you shared were never lost to Me.
I witnessed every moment.
Every promise.
Every sacrifice.
What you fear is disappearing is simply being carried into eternity.
For what is forgotten on earth is remembered in heaven.
And the love you lived will never be erased — because I was the Author who wrote it.
