The One Who Waited
Our relationship has always been an intimate one.
At times it felt distant—on again, off again—yet somehow it never truly ended.
Perhaps that is part of the mystery.
You never gave up.
You continued to pursue my heart even when I pretended not to notice you. You waited patiently for the moment when I would finally look up and realize you had been standing there all along.
Why follow someone who so often walks away?
Why wait for someone who hesitates to answer?
And yet, through every season of my life, you remained.
Quietly.
Faithfully.
Lovingly.
You whispered promises I struggled to believe—promises that if I would only trust you, you would heal the broken places in my life. You said I would come to know a love unlike anything I had ever experienced.
A love without conditions.
A love already paid for.
You spoke of grace as if it were freely given.
No bargaining.
No hidden cost.
Only love.
Still, I hesitated.
Because surrender is difficult when you have spent a lifetime learning to survive on your own.
You asked me to trust what I could not see.
To step forward on faith instead of certainty.
You knew every secret I carried—every failure, every regret—and yet you did not turn away. You did not hold my past against me.
Instead, you offered forgiveness.
You said the price had already been paid.
I wondered how anyone could be worthy of such love.
And then you reminded me that worthiness was never the point.
Grace was.
You did not ask for perfection.
You only asked for my heart.
You promised that if I trusted you—if I surrendered the life I had tried so hard to control—you would never leave me or forsake me.
You said my thirst would finally be quenched.
You promised a love stronger than any I had ever known.
And slowly I began to understand something sacred:
This was never meant to be a fleeting affair with faith.
You were offering eternity.
A lifetime of walking together.
So I laid down my fears.
I released the past I had clung to for so long.
And for the first time, I allowed myself to believe that the life you promised was real.
I gave you my hopes.
My dreams.
My broken heart that needed healing.
I surrendered everything.
Not because I understood the entire journey…
but because I finally understood you.
You are not a man that you should lie.
You are the One who created me.
The One who spoke me into existence.
And through every season of wandering,
every moment of doubt,
every time I chose something else over you—
you waited.
Faithfully.
Lovingly.
Patiently.
So today I say what my heart should have said long ago:
Thank you for waiting for me.
Thank you for loving me.
Thank you for never letting go.
