I wrote this years ago…

I didn’t realize I would one day have to live it.

Some things had to burn.

Some versions of me had to end.

But what I thought was loss…

was God preparing me to rise.

The Phoenix

by Valrelyn Parson

Rise, like the eagle, My child.

Come forth from the ashes.

It is your time to take flight.

Weeping may endure for a night,

but joy comes in the morning.

So tell Me…

How long will you stay in mourning?

Shake off the dust of what has been buried.

Release what no longer belongs to you.

You cannot carry both your past and your future at the same time.

Let the dead rest where they lie.

And you…

You must live.

I know what you lost.

I saw you running through the storm.

I heard your cries.

I watched you fall.

And though it broke My heart…

I allowed it.

Because some things had to end

for you to become who you were meant to be.

You hold on to ashes as if they still contain life.

But if ashes could speak, they would tell you:

“Release me.”

“I was only meant for a season.”

“You cannot build a future

while holding onto what has already ended.”

There is a life ahead of you that cannot be reached

if you remain tied to what was.

So let it go.

Not because it didn’t matter…

But because it is no longer yours to carry.

When everything you loved feels lost,

that is when I begin to lift you.

To raise you on wings like eagles.

To strengthen you in places you didn’t know were weak.

You call this your darkest moment.

But I call it transformation.

Because before anything can be rebuilt…

something must first be released.

You were never meant to die with what ended.

You were meant to rise beyond it.

What you lost was never taken without purpose.

I am the giver of all things.

And sometimes what you call loss…

I call preparation.

So lift your eyes.

Look behind you.

That day has ended.

The sun has set on that chapter.

But look again…

The horizon is breaking.

A new morning is rising.

You are changing.

You are becoming.

You are stepping into something you have never known before.

So do not fear what feels unfamiliar.

Everything ahead of you is part of My promise.

There is purpose in your pain.

There is meaning in your mourning.

There is life beyond this moment.

Dry your tears, My child.

Not because your pain was not real…

But because your future is waiting.

Rise.

From the ashes.

And take flight.
