Vulnerability is not about removing makeup.
It is about removing masks.
Sometimes we hide behind perfection.
Behind curated images.
Behind strength that never trembles.
Some hide behind excessive makeup — not because beauty is wrong, but because invisibility feels safer than being truly seen.
Some hide behind provocative clothing — not because they are bold, but because control feels safer than intimacy.
Some hide behind humor.
Others behind independence.
Others behind spirituality.
We all have armor.
Vulnerability is not about condemning the armor.
It is about asking why we needed it in the first place.
It is standing before God without filters and saying,
“This is me. Not the polished version. Not the curated version. The trembling version.”
It is trusting that being fully known will not lead to rejection.
That is the sacred risk.
To believe someone can see the scars
and not turn away.
To believe that if the walls fall,
you will not be crushed beneath them.
We hide because we were once exposed without protection.
We hide because vulnerability was mishandled.
We hide because somewhere along the way,
being seen cost us something.
But healing begins when we allow safe eyes to see us.
And God’s gaze is not one of exposure.
It is one of covering.
