Becoming Sent: Living on Purpose, Not by Accident
Many are called, but few are chosen.
This scripture is often misunderstood — not because it is unclear, but because it is uncomfortable. The calling is wide. The invitation is generous. But the choosing happens in the quiet, unseen places where endurance is required.
Many answer the call.
Few answer the cost.
Because the chosen are not always the strongest or the loudest. They are the ones willing to lose comfort, ego, and applause. The ones who stay when the journey grows heavy. The ones who keep walking when quitting would be easier.
The race is not won by those who start fast, but by those who endure.
I think of my friend Renee and her journey — her run. There were surely moments when giving up felt justified. Moments when the road was lonely, the work unseen, and the reward delayed. Yet she stayed. She kept going. Not for recognition. Not for notoriety. Not for fame.
She chose obedience.
She chose to serve, to listen, to put God first — then her husband, then her family. She chose sacrifice. She chose to pour out even when she felt empty. She chose commitment over convenience.
This is what it means to be sent.
To live on purpose, not by accident.
To die to self daily.
To put others first without losing sight of the One who called you.
Being sent is not a moment — it is a life.
And those who live it are not always seen, but they are always known.
