I Can Withstand the Storm
I can withstand the storm—
not because I am strong,
but because I know there is peace waiting on the other side of it.
If you had asked me months ago, “How do you survive a storm like this?” I probably would have just stared, empty and exhausted, because I didn’t have an answer. But now I’ve learned something:
storms don’t last forever.
Even the loudest winds eventually quiet. Even the fiercest waves eventually settle. And everything that was knocked out of place? God has a way of rebuilding it piece by piece.
The enemy loves to show up in those moments of chaos. He whispers that every setback is final. He tries to make us believe the breaking point is the ending point. His hope is that we’ll take our eyes off the Lord and drown in fear.
I’ll be honest—there have been days I was furious with God. Days I asked, “Why me, Lord?”
And then later, with tears in my eyes, I whispered, “Why not me?”
Because His ways are higher than mine.
His reasons are wrapped in wisdom I can’t always see.
And my job is not to question every wave—
but to stay surrendered in His perfect will.
Storms will form.
Clouds will gather.
Winds will howl.
And sometimes fear will creep into the corners of your heart.
But even then, you are standing on a solid foundation.
You are anchored to the Rock that cannot be moved.
And the gates of hell will not prevail.
My friend Leigh always reminds me,
“Be still and know.”
And maybe the hardest part isn’t the storm itself—maybe it’s the stillness. Because when we are still, we are forced to face the unknown, and sometimes the unknown feels scarier than the storm.
But if you let Him, God will bring a holy quiet into your valley.
There is repose, a sacred kind of rest, waiting for you there.
A peace that settles not around you, but within you.
And when you remember you are not alone—
that He walks with you, fights for you, covers you, and carries you—
you begin to realize:
There is no storm you cannot walk through.
No wave that can take you under.
No darkness that can steal you from His hand.
Because He is with you.
And with Him, you will survive anything.
